Meteora, A Stairway To Heaven

Our trip on a luxury air-conditioned coach starts early in the morning. We travel by ferry to the mainland port of Igoumenitsa. From here, we travel through mainland Greece to Kalambaka. Our journey is about 160 km long and takes about two hours. Meanwhile, you can watch the stunning landscape and wild beauty with mountains, lakes, and forests.

On arrival in Kalampaka, a city built at the foothills of Meteora, we visit a hagiography workshop for an exhibition of handmade images of Saints of the Christian faith.

We continue our tour and drive to the magnificent rocks of Meteora, hands-down one of the most impressive areas in Greece.

We find Meteora on the northern side of Greece. Meteora is included in the World Heritage List. Dotted with towering rocks, it has a breathtaking landscape with beautiful, otherworldly scenery!

The famous Meteora monasteries, most of them constructed during Byzantine times, sit on top of the rocks. We visit two of the monasteries. You get a guided tour of the unique building technique and the lifestyle of monks living there.

We return to the small town of Kalambaka, where you can taste Greek cuisine in one of the traditional tavernas and have free time for a walk. We return to Corfu feeling that the atmosphere of Meteora has touched our expectations!
